Tan Delta Test

Electrical properties of insulating systems change due to age and continuous electrical stress. Tan Delta (also known as Loss Angle or Dissipation Factor testing) is a diagnostic method of testing electrical equipment to determine the integrity of the insulation. By measuring electrical properties such as Capacitance and Tan-Delta regularly, it is possible to ensure the operational reliability of insulation used in high voltage systems and to avoid costly insulation breakdown.
